  • National Water Harvesters Network

    Set up in Centre of Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi, the National Water Harvesters Network (NWHN) promotes a people's water management programme based on water harvesting. It has members and affiliates all across India, all working to achieve this goal.

  • Rain Centre, Chennai

    The CSE in partnership with Akash Ganga Trust, a Chennai-based citizen's action group, has unveiled its first Rain Centre in Chennai. This is a permanent exhibition displaying different aspects of traditional and modern rainwater harvesting systems in India. Visitors can learn about rainwater harvesting initiatives spearheaded in the city and in the western coastal plains.

    This comprehensive resource on rainwater harvesting houses a functioning rainwater harvesting model and features colourful panels and posters on water harvesting in different ecological zones of India. Visitors can watch electronic simulations and "water scenarios," outlining the availability, rainfall, distribution and water usage in the western coastal plains. Water testing kits and information on testing water quality are also available.

    Other resources at the Centre include a CD Rom presentation that details CSE's campaign on rainwater harvesting, an urban and rural technological database, together with detailed case studies of rainwater harvesting initiatives and practitioners in India. As part of its outreach efforts, the Rain Centre will organize eco tours for school students.

  • Rainwater Club, Bangalore

    The Rainwater Club is a group of concerned individuals with interest in the proper, sustainable management of water for the general good of society. The club has particular interest in ecological architecture, rainwater harvesting, and water recycling, reuse and wastewater treatment. It believes that community based, participatory and decentralised initiatives only will provide long term equitable access to this natural resource.

  • Roof Water Harvesting and Water Management Society

    Mr. Pawan Garg, a young enthusiastic technocrat has formed a society named "Roof Water Harvesting and Water Management Society " affiliated to Chhattisgarh Janjagaran and Jal Paryavaran Sanstha. Mr. Pawan and his team are working independently in Chhattisgarh State, providing the society's services on no profit basis i.e. installations on cost-to-cost basis. They are conducting seminars and mass awareness programs with practical demonstration of various models involved in RWH. They have already installed the RWH models in various industries, hotels, farmhouses and in residential colonies.
