Information kit on farm and rural journalism

As an attempt at popularising the concept of farmer-friendly communication further, CAAM has prepared an information kit on farm and rural journalism in Kannada. The kit, first of its kind in Kannada journalism was released in a programme organised by Adike Patrike on March 17, 2007 in Puttur, Karnataka under the auspices of Farmers First Trust (FFT).

Trust president Khandige Srikrishna Bhat released the kit. Known development journalist and Executive Editor of Adike Patrike ‘Shree’ Padre explained the objective of the kit. He said that such a detailed guideline with examples would help the beginners in farm and rural journalism.

Trustees of FFT M. Srinivasa Achar, Shankar Saradka, Kinila Ashok, Padaru Ramakrishna Shastry, Vate Mahalinga Bhat, Adike Patrike Assistant Editor Na. Karatha Peraje and farmer-writer P.S. Venkatrama Daitota were present on the occasion.

This 2-volume kit in Kannada, edited by Shivaram Pailoor, gives a descriptive narration of the basic information on farm and rural journalism (FRJ).
The first volume is an theoretical introduction to FRJ while the second volume goes deep into the theme with practical examples and different dimensions of FRJ. The kit includes one-year subscription of two leading Kannada farm journals. A set of major Kannada farm and rural journals and three development books in Kannada ‘Freelancigala Khaasagi Column’, ‘Kan Chitte’ and ‘Nandihalliya Udyamasheela Dampati’ are also included in the kit.
