Mr. B.N. Nandeesh from Shimoga and Mr. Mallikarjuna Hosapalya from Tumkur have obtained CAAM's farm journalism awards for the year 2004.

The awards, given in two categories are instituted by CAAM to encourage farmer friendly journalism in Kannada. In practicing farmer category Mr. B.N. Nandeesh's article on his experience of getting good paddy harvest without applying compost, 'Gobbara balasade abbarada tene' published in Adike Patrike has been selected for the award. In the general category, Mr. Mallikarjuna Hosapalya's article 'Nettiragi Paddhati: Adhika iluvari needuva vidhana'(Explaining a method of ragi cultivation to get more yield) published in Prajavani has bagged the award. The awards carry a cash prize of Rs.2000 each besides a citation and a parisara shilpa.

The Centre has announced a special award to Mr. Channabasappa Shivappa Kombali of Kakola in Haveri District of Karnataka recognising his outstanding contribution to soil and water conservation, particularly ground water recharging. The award carries a cash prize of Rs.4000 along with a citation. The awards will be presented on the occasion of CAAM's fourth anniversary at 'Sriranga', Kukkujadka, Sullia, Dakshina Kannada on December 26, 2004.
