Born (1965) in Kenchi-Koppa village in Chikkamagalur District of Karnataka, Dr. Chandrashekhar has got his doctorate for his study on “Knowledge and adoption gaps in coffee cultivation practices among coffee growers”.

With many publications and several journal articles to his credit, Dr. Chandrashekhar trained more than 500 personnel in the field of coffee through 60 training programmes in coffee management. The modules included: coffee nursery management, planting and after care, soil water and weed management, pest and disease management, post harvest technology, diversification, farm management and coffee extension management.

A gold medallist from the University of Agricultural science, Bangalore, Dr. Chandrashekhar has worked for 10 years as the Junior Liaison Officer (Man power management) in the Coffee Board, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.

He is presently working (since 1999) in MANAGE (National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management, Hyderabad) as the Deputy Director of Agricultural;Extension. He is also the Associate Editor for the journal of MANAGE - Extension Research Review. He has developed specialisation in the area of privatisation of extension services and studied different models in several countries.
