Termite soil, instead of soap!

Home

Termite soil removes all types of dirt from the skin surface. It is freely available and efficient as a cleanser and moisturizer. It is a good substitute for body soaps on which millions are spent. It doesn't pollute water nor does it have any side effects on the skin, says Dr. Vijay Angady.

Modern man has become dependent on machine-made products, which he uses indiscriminately. Our forefathers were using white saline mud (known as 'Chavulu' soil) for washing and bathing. This 'Chavulu' soil was available near riverbanks and lakes. Now that the surface water has become scarce, this saline soil also has disappeared. Thus, even the villagers have started using synthetic soaps. Hasn't the time come for searching for alternative, natural cleansers?

No soap!

When I discussed with the Dr. G.N.S. Reddy of BAIF Institute of Rural Development, Tiptur, Tumkur District of Karnataka about the cheap alternatives for soaps, he quoted Prof. Anil G. Gupta, Professor, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Gujrat who has been using soil of termite hill for bathing.

I too started using this termite soil. Results were fantastic. It cleans body odour and oily spots very effectively. I also use the soil for shaving.

How to use?

Small pellet of soil is enough for one bathing. First, moist the soil with water in a small container. Make a paste and apply it on the skin - wash it after a few minutes.

For shaving, its paste should be applied on the face and after a few minutes it should be washed; to remove the soil content. Shave while the face is still wet. No need for brush and after-shave lotion!

Now a days, most of the water sources are contaminated with high fluoride content. Since fluoride renders hardness to water, use of more soap becomes inevitable, leaving the skin dry and rough. Termite soil doesn't foam, but it smoothens the skin because it doesn't destroy the natural oil of the skin. Soil from the forest-termite-hills gives excellent results.

Where to get?

Instead of using the soil from the newly constructed hill, we should use the soil from the old hills. [Old hills have holes in them, but live and new hills are always closed without any opening.] Please don't disturb the live hills, where the life process is still going on.

Good savings!

Using a natural substitute like termite soil will prevent water pollution since it doesn't contain sodium or calcium, etc., which are the main ingredients of synthetic soap. It also cuts our expenditure on soaps! And our skin will regain its original freshness.

Any person of any age or any skin type can safely use this termite soil. Already hundreds of villagers (in Hassan District, Karnataka) are using this without any side effect.

Among the 2000 termite species, India has 300 species (only a few are harmful). Studies indicate that termites construct the hill by mixing their oily saliva with smooth soil and fine sand particles. Few termite species use their excreta for hill construction. Termites play a major role in the degradation of organic matter, without harming the live tissues, which in turn improves soil fertility. Karnataka Rajya Vignana Parishat of Hassan has published a book in Kannada to reveal many secrets of termites and termite soil.

Many farmers in Hassan area have been trying this method.

Pushpa Surendra adds:

Nature cure doctors use termite soil/ ant hill soil for mud packs. Not only as a cleanser but to bring down swelling and pain. You should sieve the soil and can keep it in a jar for use. You smear the mud paste on to the swollen parts and let it dry. sleep on with it, better. You can also put a wet pack on it.
