The Centre for Alternative Agricultural Media has started a one-year diploma course in farm journalism. The correspondence diploma, first of its kind in Kannada, has been launched to encourage farmer-friendly farm journalism in Kannada.Topics like nature and importance of farmer-friendly farm journalism, types of farm writing, techniques of writing, photo journalism etc., will be covered during the course. Karnataka Madhyama Academy President Mr. Arjuna Deva formally inaugurated the course on CAAM's third anniversary (November 30, 2003) by distributing identity cards to the candidates.

The selected ten candidates were given a two-day training on the basics of farm journalism on November 29-30, 2003. Mr. Shree Padre, Mr. Addoor Krishna Rao, Dr. Niranjana Vanalli, Mr. Narendra Rai Derla, Mr. Shankar Saradka and Dr. Shivaram Pailoor were the resource persons.
